Madou Monogatari: Michikusa Ibun follows the same first-person dungeon-crawler format as most other Madou Monogatari games. It resembles Madou Monogatari 3 the most in terms of gameplay, with Arle accompanied by Carbuncle for the duration of the game.
This game serves as a direct prequel to Puyo Puyo (1992), building off of the backstory presented in its manual. It was published as part of Disc Station 98 Vol.

Story
Madou Monogatari: Michikusa Ibun opens with Arle and Carbuncle enjoying the nice weather while laying on the grass together. Arle decides that a day like today is a perfect time to go dungeon-crawling so she and Carbuncle set off for a nearby ruin and begin exploring.
